NORWALK–Despite playing their best all-around match of the season, the Staples boys soccer dropped a 3-0 decision at Norwalk High School Monday night.

All Norwalk’s goals came in the second half. The first, 11 minutes after intermission, was an own goal, deflected in by a defender. The next two came from Dylan Thomas, in the 58th and 72nd minutes.

The Bears maintained their unbeaten record this fall. They have 10 wins and 3 ties. The Wreckers dropped to 6-7-1. With two games remaining, they are still in the hunt for FCIAC and state tournament playoff berths. They travel to Brien McMahon on Thursday (7 p.m.), and host Fairfield Ludlowe next Monday (4 p.m., Wakeman Field), in crucial encounters.
