WESTPORT — Strong individual performances and a collective scoring barrage sparked by nine 3-pointers Tuesday added up to Staples girls basketball team’s second straight win, a 63-42 victory over the Brien McMahon Senators.

Freya Harvey had eight points, seven steals and five assists against the Norwalk visitors, while Marley Belzer scored six points to go along with seven rebounds and a trio of blocks.

Chloe Smith scored 13 points, Sadie Katzner had 10, Sam Selig nine and Riely Gullans six.

Smith and Selig each had a trio of first-quarter 3-pointers as the Wreckers built a commanding 24-7 lead after one quarter of play. It was 46-17 at halftime.

When all was said and done, 10 Wreckers registered points as Staples improved to 3-4 overall.

The Wreckers are back in action at 6 p.m. Thursday when Norwalk High visits.  (Game schedules are subject to change; click for the latest CIAC updates.)
