WESTPORT — Defense reigned supreme yet again as the Staples girls soccer team finished its regular season (9-2-4) at home against Fairfield Ludlowe. Cami Kolek was goalie for the whole game. 

With only seconds left in first half Katherine Shackelford kicked a great cross to Evelyn Chudowsky, whose shot found the net for the only goal in the game. 

Staples’ post-season begins next week. The teams vying for the FCIAC title are (in ranked order):
