WESTPORT–Staples baseball saw its four-game winning streak come to an end in a 3-1 loss to visiting St. Joseph on Saturday. Mark Kelly had two of the Wreckers three hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Jules Cicero had the other Staples hit. Bruce Schlegelmilch allowed three runs on five hits in five innings and Cole Landgraf tossed two scoreless frames.
The Wreckers lost 8-3 to visiting Westhill on Monday. Staples ends the regular season at Ridgefield on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
Staples and Trumbull are both 11-3 and vying for the No. 2 seed in the FCIAC Tournament with the Wreckers holding the tiebreaker for its head-to-head win over the Eagles. Trumbull hosts Westhill Tuesday at 6.
