WESTPORT–Sam Nestor secured the Democratic Party endorsement for Connecticut State Senate District 26. Nestor, Weston’s First Selectwoman, beat Lucy Dathan, New Canaan’s state representative, by a margin of 48 delegate votes to 25.
Nestor said about the endorsement, “Tonight, Democrats across this district sent a clear message: they’re ready for locally focused leadership and real results. I’m honored by this endorsement and energized to take our campaign to every door, every neighborhood, and every community between now and Election Day. I want to thank sitting Senator Ceci Maher for her mentorship, her friendship, and her endorsement.”
Nestor Campaign Manager Robin Weinberg said in a release that, “The strong showing reflects deep grassroots support across the district for the sitting First Selectwoman of Weston, and broad confidence among party leaders in Nestor’s vision, values, and ability to win in November.”
Nestor was nominated by Rudy Marconi, Ridgefield’s First Selectman, who had stood to nominate the previous two State Senators for the 26th District: Senator Will Haskell and Senator Ceci Maher. Vicki Volper, a founder of the ReSisters, from Westport, seconded her nomination.
The Nestor campaign now enters the general election phase, with CEP funds secured and strong support from her party. More information about the Nestor campaign is available here.
