WESTPORT–Staples girls lacrosse put up 29 goals in less than 24 hours, following up a 13-4 victory at Amity of Woodbridge on Friday evening with a 16-4 victory over the visiting Danbury Hatters the next morning.

In the win at Amity, Chloe Smith led the way with eight points, scoring four times and adding four assists. Maeve Best had a goal and two assists; Addie Talbott, Noelle Tybur and Millie DiGiovanni each scored twice; Bryn Morris had two assists and Daisy Hackett and Ella Yeater each added goals.

Smith and Talbott both had three ground ball scoops, Best, Morris and Stella Ginsberg each had two ground balls, and Scarlett Sunjka, Cari Gordon, Ella Yeater, Evie Bory and DiGiovanni all had a ground ball.

Tybur led Staples with three draw controls, Talbott, Best and Blake DeWitt each had two draw controls and Gordon, Smith and Yeater had one apiece.

In the turnover department, Smith had four, Talbott three, Morris two and Yeater, Ginsberg and DiGiovanni each had one.

Saturday was Senior Day and the Wreckers celebrated their final-year players.

Sadie Lowe scored four times, Tybur netted a hat-trick, Smith had two goals and four assists and Talbott scored twice to spark the offense. Hackett, Best, DiGiovanni, Kathryn Fontana and Brooklyn Nizzardo all scored and Morris added an assist.

Talbott and Tybur both won three draws, Best and Smith won a pair each, and Logan Watkins, Morris Yeater all had a draw control. 

Watkins had four ground balls, Sunjka and Talbott had three, Christina Suarez two, and DeWitt, Bory, Lowe and Morris all logged one.

Talbott caused a trio of turnovers, Watkins forced two and Morris, Best and Sunjka each caused one.

Staples (8-7 overall) hosts Wilton Tuesday at 4 in the regular-season finale. Then it is on to the playoffs.
