WESTPORT — People got a peek at the nearly completed penthouses at Bankside House condos Thursday evening.

The luxury condo complex on the Saugatuck River has 12 units, half of which have buyers so far, said Kim Harizman of KMS Partners at Compass.

Remaining condos are available for between $2.5 million and $4.75 million, she said.

That appears to be the priciest condos in Westport, according to listings.

“This is level five, super high-end,” Harizman said of the construction, something she said Westport has never seen before. She was greeting visitors and leading them on tours of a third-floor unit, which also included an outdoor patio and will have a rooftop outdoor area as well.

She said contract buyers should be closing in September and the work complete in October.        

The units have tall ceilings and many of its 13-by-13-foot windows have views of the river, and some of downtown Westport across the water. The windows are soundproof, noted David Waldman, one of the builders.

The property, back when, was part of the Save the Children headquarters. Other nearby properties on the west bank of the Saugatuck have also moved on from previous lives, including the Vigilant Fire House and the old Fairfield Furniture building.

On the ground floor, people had refreshments and pizza from the Big Green Truck Pizza.

“The best condos ever to be built in Westport,” Waldman said of the nearly completed work.
