Guidelines on voter registration, absentee ballots

Only voters registered as a Republican or Democrat can vote in each political party’s primary.

Although the deadline for voters registered with either party to switch their affiliation has passed, unaffiliated voters can enroll as either a Republican or Democrat until noon Aug 8.

Applications to register by mail to become a voter must be postmarked five days before the primary, or a person can apply online or in-person at Town Hall until noon Aug. 8, according to an announcement from Westport’s Registrars of Voters and the Town Clerk’s Office.

Election Day registration is not allowed for primary voting.

Applications for absentee ballots are now available from the Town Clerk’s Office. The drop box at the rear of Town Hall can be used to deposit the applications and absentee ballots. For more information about absentee ballots, click here.
