WESTPORT–A 25-year-old Old Greenwich, Connecticut woman has been arrested and charged with stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of clothes from Mitchell’s Department Store, 670 Post Road East. Westport police said surveillance footage also appeared to show the woman, Rachel Lewis, switching price tags on stolen merchandise and conducting fraudulent returns.
Police were called to the store on April 16 shortly before 5 p.m. on a shoplifting report. A loss prevention officer reported that on April 12, a customer known to the store as Rachel Lewis had returned merchandise to the store. While there, she paid for two items but was alleged to have taken numerous other expensive items of clothing that she had not paid for, Westport police said.
As the investigation progressed, Lewis turned over several presumably stolen articles of clothing to the investigating detective, with a total value of these items estimated at $14,651.00, police said.
With an active warrant for her arrest in effect, Rachel Lewis turned herself in at Westport Police headquarters on Aug. 8 and was charged with second-degree larceny. She was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Stamford Superior Court on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
