WESTPORT — A New Haven woman faces charges in connection with forging and cashing fraudulent checks more than three years ago.
Renickea Boxley, 32, was charged June 23 with first-degree forgery and third-degree larceny.
Police launched an investigation when a local woman filed a complaint Nov. 19, 2018, alleging that someone used her bank account data to “illegally manufacture checks” and then cashed the checks at Webster Bank offices around Fairfield County.
Two of the fraudulent checks were signed Renickea Boxley, police said.
A police investigator, after reviewing video surveillance footage of a suspect cashing one of the fraudulent checks, was able to identify the person as Boxley, according to the report.
Boxley was taken into custody June 23 by Westport police, and held on $25,000 bond.
She was taken the next day for arraignment at state Superior Court in Stamford.
