Following is a roundup of recent arrests by the Westport Police Department:

  • Cops: Man drove from accident scene — after being told not to
Simon Billig

A Weston man faces a charge of driving without a license after police said he was issued a citation and told not to drive from an accident scene — but did so anyway.

Simon Billig, 55, was charged Nov. 8 with operating a motor vehicle with his license under suspension in connection with incident, which took place more than two years ago.

Officers were dispatched shortly after 3:30 p.m. July 26, 2019, to investigate the report of a minor traffic accident in the parking lot at 180 Post Road East, according to police.

At the scene, police said they determined Billig had struck a parked vehicle while backing out of his parking space. Billig’s license was suspended at the time, according to the report, and he was issued a misdemeanor summons for driving without a license.

After being issued the citation, he was told by officers not to drive from scene, but “moments” later he drove away, police said. A warrant for his arrest subsequently was issued.

He was taken into custody Nov. 8 by Fairfield police, and acting on the arrest warrant, he was turned over to Westport police.

After posting $25,000 bond, he was scheduled to be arraigned on the charge Nov. 15 at state Superior Court in Stamford.

  • Violation of protective order alleged
Justin King

A Norwalk man was arrested for violating a protective order by contacting a local woman, police said.

Justin King, 50, faces the charge of criminal violation of a protective order earlier this year.

A woman told police last July 31 that King, who was barred from contacting her by an active protective order, had sent her a series of emails in violation of the order, according to the police report.

King, answering a warrant issued for his arrest, turned himself in at police headquarters Nov. 10.

He was released after posting $10,000 bond and was scheduled to have been arraigned on the charge Nov. 12 at state Superior Court in Stamford.

  • Disorderly conduct charged after argument
William McMorris

A 24-year-old man was arrested for disorderly conduct in connection with an incident last week, according to police.

William McMorris, of Westport, was charged after a woman reported that during an argument Nov. 9 he pushed her.

McMorris, answering the warrant issued for his arrest, turned himself in at police headquarters a day later.

He was released after posting a $1,000 bond and was scheduled to have been arraigned Nov. 12 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
