WESTPORT — An osprey tangled in a cord on a post at a waterfront dock was freed Sunday by Westport firefighters.

The Engine 4 crew was dispatched to the scene of the bird in distress, according to the Fire Department’s Facebook page.

There, the roped raptor was disentangled and soon spread its wings to fly free over the waterfront, apparently uninjured by the ordeal.
