WESTPORT — Fire that erupted in the garage of a Burr Farms Road home Thursday night was extinguished by firefighters before causing serious damage to the rest of the structure.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene after the blaze was reported at 7:47 p.m. Thursday by the homeowner’s call to 9-1-1.
Four engines and a ladder truck were deployed, according to the report by Assistant Fire Chief Jeffrey Gootman, the shift commander.
Heavy smoke was billowing from the garage when firefighters arrived, but flames were “quickly extinguished” by the fire crews, Gootman said.
The home’s residents were alerted to the fire by smoke detectors, and all had evacuated the dwelling without injuries, he added.
Police and EMS personnel also provided support at the scene.
Cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
