WESTPORT — A 38-year-old woman, who with two other people is accused of shoplifting merchandise from a Post Road East pharmacy and fleeing in a stolen car last May, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Megan Schneider, who police said has no home address, was charged Sept. 22 with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny.

The shoplifting took place at the CVS pharmacy, 397 Post Road East, last May 14 about 6:30 a.m., police said, when three people left the store without paying for merchandise and fled in a white Nissan Sentra.

An officer spotted the suspects’ vehicle a short time later, but when they refused to pull over as instructed, declined to engage in pursuit that could have endangered others’ safety.

On May 23, the getaway car was found in Bridgeport, and two people in the vehicle at the time were charged with stealing it. One of those people was Schneider, according to the police report.

After gathering additional evidence that linked her to the Westport shoplifting, police said, a warrant was secured for Schneider’s arrest.

Schneider was taken into custody Sept. 22 by police detectives, and transported later that day for arraignment on the charges at state Superior Court in Stamford.
