WESTPORT — A Norwalk woman was charged with intoxicated driving after she was seen driving erratically in the area of Easton and Weston roads Wednesday night, police said.

Barbara Filippone, 62, faces a charge of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in connection with the incident.

An officer was dispatched to Easton Road, near the intersection with Weston Road, shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday after police received a report that a car was driving up onto sidewalks and crossing the street’s double yellow line.

Arriving at the scene, the officer spotted the car swerving onto Easton Road’s shoulder. The driver was pulled over and identified as Filippone.

The officer could smell alcohol on her breath, according to the police report, which also indicated that her eyes were glassy and she was slurring her speech.

Filippone was unable to complete a field sobriety test to standard at the scene, police said, and was placed under arrest.

She was released after posting $500 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned on the charge March 3 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
