WESTPORT — A second man has been implicated as one of the thieves who stole tires and wheel rims at the local Honda and Toyota dealerships last fall.
William Higgins, 25, of West Haven, was charged May 1 with first-degree larceny, second-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit second-degree larceny.
Brandon Sullo, 22, of Hamden, was charged April 14 with similar crimes in connection with the same thefts.
Additional arrests are expected in the case, police said.
The first of the thefts from vehicles parked at the dealerships was reported about 3:45 a.m. last Oct. 7 and continued intermittently until Nov. 23, police said.
Investigators used recordings of video surveillance, as well as search warrants and information shared with other law-enforcement agencies, to identify Higgins as one of the suspects in the case, according to the report.
A warrant for the arrest of Higgins was issued, and he was charged May 1 while appearing at state Superior Court in Stamford.
He was arraigned on the Westport larceny charges that day.
