WESTPORT — A second man has been charged with possessing checks stolen from a resident, which were found in a carjacked vehicle that crashed during a multi-town chase last October, police said.
Dominique Reid, 26, of Bridgeport, was charged Jan. 16 with illegal possession of personal identification information, third-degree identity theft, conspiracy to illegally posses personal identification information and conspiracy to commit third-degree identity theft.
Police said Reid and an accomplice, identified as Elijah Holloman, 21 of Bridgeport, carried out the armed carjacking in Bridgeport last Sept. 26.
On Oct. 3, when the men were spotted in the stolen car in Wilton, they allegedly crashed into a police cruiser in that town trying to evade being taken into custody.
Police in several nearby communities later made attempts to apprehend the suspects as they sped onto the Merritt Parkway, where it later crashed.
After fleeing from the disabled car, Reid and Holloman both were later located and arrested on charges for the carjacking and the police crash filed by other jurisdictions.
During their investigation into the incident, Bridgeport police on Oct. 14 notified Westport authorities that some of the checks found in the vehicle apparently had been stolen from residents of Westport and other communities.
Westport police on Jan. 8 filed charges against Holloman in connection with the checks theft, and also had issued a warrant for Reid’s arrest on the same charges. Reid was arrested Jan. 16 by Westport police while appearing at state Superior Court in Stamford.
