WESTPORT–A Fairfield woman, who was allegedly found with clothing stolen from several downtown Westport shops, was arrested and charged with shoplifting after turning herself in to Westport Police Headquarters on Jan. 21, police said.
Jamie Donnelly, 64, was first stopped downtown after one store reported that items were stolen on Dec. 5, 2025. She fit the description given by the store’s staff and had the merchandise in her vehicle, police said.
The store that reported the theft declined to press charges and only wanted the merchandise returned. However, police found other items they suspected were stolen from other downtown stores.
“Also found were two pairs of wire cutters commonly used to remove security tags from clothing,” police said in an announcement.
Several stores were identified as theft victims in the investigation, but only one, Vuori of 166 Main St., pressed charges, for the theft of $374 worth of clothes. Police issued a warrant for Donnelly’s arrest, which led to her reporting to headquarters.
Donnelly was charged with sixth-degree larceny and illegal possession of a shoplifting device, both misdemeanors. She was released on a $25,000 bond and is due in Superior Court in Stamford on Feb. 11.
