WESTPORT — A local man, once employed by the Westport Weston Family YMCA and arrested last June with possessing child pornography, now faces an upgraded charge.
Brian Myers, 29, of Westport, Connecticut, was charged Nov. 1 with first-degree possession of child pornography.
Police initially charged Myers with third-degree possession of child pornography on June 25, but the more serious charge was lodged after a continuing police investigation uncovered “the number of images he possessed,” according to the report.
At the time of Myers’s initial arrest, he worked at the Westport Weston Family YMCA in its “Kids Club” and other activities for children, YMCA officials confirmed at the time. He was immediately terminated when the YMCA learned of his arrest, they said.
A warrant for Myers’s arrest in connection with the upgraded charge was issued Nov. 1, and he turned himself in at Police Department headquarters where he was formally charged.
He was released after a promise to appear for arraignment Nov. 8 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
