WESTPORT — An 80-year-old woman, reported missing Thursday afternoon after failing to return home from a morning medical appointment in Norwalk, was later found in Orange.

Kathreen Brandt, 80, of 29 Washington Ave. — for whom a “Silver Alert” missing person bulletin was issued about 4 p.m. Thursday — was located by Orange police, according to a 6 p.m. statement from Westport police.

She is safe and reunited with her family, police said.

The Silver Alert was issued after Brandt, who drove from her home to an 11:30 a.m. appointment at Norwalk Hospital, did not return by the expected time of about 1:30 p.m.

Police were alerted because of concerns over Brandt’s welfare, since she is believed to suffer from a type of memory loss, according to the report.

A Silver Alert seeking information about her whereabouts was subsequently issued.

At the time Brandt was reported missing, she was believed to be driving her red 1996 Audi Cabriolet.
