WESTPORT — A local woman, charged with responsibility for a hit-and-run accident on Wilton Road, also was driving while impaired, police said.
Ilana Whitestone, 48, of Westport, was charged with evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane in connection with the Dec. 29 accident.
Officers were dispatched just before 4 p.m. Dec. 29 to the site of an accident on Wilton Road, near Kings Highway.
The driver who allegedly caused the crash left the scene, arriving officers were told, and fled north on Wilton Road, according to the police report.
The driver of that car — identified by police as Whitestone — was found parked on Partrick Road, police said.
While being interviewed by officers, Whitestone appeared confused and the smell of alcohol was detected on her breath, police said.
Whitestone, who police said also was unsteady on her feet, was unable to perform a field sobriety test to standard, according to the report.
Whitestone was arrested, and after she was formally charged, was released after posting $2,500 bond. She is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 9 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
