WESTPORT — A 49-year-old woman was driving under the influence when she left the scene of an Imperial Avenue accident last week, police said.
Meredith Colder, of Westport, was charged March 7 was evading responsibility (hit and run), driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to drive in the proper lane.
Police were dispatched about 11 p.m. March 7 to the area of 100 Imperial Ave. to investigate the report of a crash. Officers arriving at the site found a “victim” vehicle heavily damaged by another vehicle that fled the scene.
Investigating officers later found the vehicle that left scene parked at the owner’s residence, and the driver — identified as Meredith Colder — was still seated inside, according to the report.
Colder appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said, and was asked to perform a field sobriety test. She was unable to perform the test satisfactorily and was placed under arrest, according to the report.
Released after posting $500 bond, Colder is scheduled to be arraigned April 7 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
