WESTPORT — A Torrington man, arrested last year for allegedly trying to break into a local home on Halloween night, was charged last week with burglarizing another home in the same neighborhood.

Scott Cormier, 36, was charged June 11 with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny in connection with the second incident.

Police were alerted last Nov. 4 that a home had been burglarized while the residents were away.

A review of the home’s video-surveillance footage showed a white male had broken into the premises about 5:30 p.m. Oct. 31.

The officer investigating the incident recognized the suspect as the same man — identified by police as Scott Cormier — who had been arrested trying to burglarize another home in the neighborhood on the night of Oct. 31, according to the report.

A warrant for Cormier’s arrest was issued, and he was taken into custody June 11 at state Superior Court in Stamford. He was held on $50,000 bond and arraigned on the new allegations that day.
