WESTPORT — “ColleCTomania: The Outsized Influence of Swiss Posters,” with more than 130 “world format” posters, is the title of an exhibit opening June 27 at MoCA CT.
An opening reception for the display is set at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the museum, 19 Newtown Turnpike. The museum was recently rebranded from its previous name, MoCA Westport.

The exhibit, which runs through Sept. 13, features posters from the collection of Tom Strong, a New Haven-based graphic designer and photographer.
Over the last six decades, according to museum publicity, Strong has amassed a large collection of posters, including examples from Switzerland that have “had a significant influence on the discipline of graphic design … especially those designed during the 1950s and 60s, [which] have attained iconic status and are part of design education in schools across the globe.”
The posters reflect a range of styles, subject matter and technologies, and illustrate “the outsized influence of Swiss design as well as the contemporary experimentation that builds on that legacy,” according to the museum’s announcement.
The show also includes a short documentary and gallery devoted to local designers whose work is informed by Swiss design.
