WESTPORT — A 19-year-old driver, pulled over for a license plate violation, has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Christopher Terron, of Norwalk, was arrested on the charge Nov. 25, as well as for improper display of his vehicle’s registration plate.

An officer patrolling Main Street pulled over Terron after noticing a license plate on his vehicle was improperly displayed, according to the report.

While speaking with Terron, the officer allegedly smelled the odors of alcohol and marijuana, police said. Based on that and Terron’s performance on a field sobriety test, he was taken to Police Department headquarters, where he was formally charged. He was later released after posting $500 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 9 at state Superior Court in Stamford.
