WESTPORT–A Greenwich, Connecticut man was arrested and charged with trying to assault Westport Police officers investigating a disturbance at the Cedar Point Yacht Club at 1 Bluff Point late last month, police said.

Max Anker, 23, allegedly ran from and then struggled with police “while actively trying to harm the officers” on the night of Saturday July 30, Westport police said in a release. Police had been called to the yacht club on reports of a man who appeared to be intoxicated and who argued with club members and refused to leave when asked to.

Anker was released for medical evaluation and treatment based on his condition, and a warrant was issued for his arrest, police said. Greenwich police took him into custody Saturday based on the warrant and he was taken to the Westport Police Department for processing.

Anker was charged with interfering with an officer, assault on a public safety worker, criminal attempt to assault a public safety worker and second-degree breach of peace. He posted $75,000 bond and is due in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 9.
