WESTPORT — The Westport Fire Department doused an attic fire in a house on Red Coat Road early Monday evening.

The department responded to a 5 p.m. call of a house fire with four engines, a ladder truck and a command vehicle, according to a department press release.

Upon arriving firefighters witnessed moderate smoke coming from the attic and roof vents.

Calls were put in to surrounding towns for help due to the anticipated fire spread, but Westport’s crew was able to quickly deploy hose lines and extinguish the fire prior to the other units arriving.

There were no civilian casualties, according to the release, but one firefighter sustained minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire marshal.
