To the editor:
I am writing to voice my full support for Liz Heyer as a Board of Finance candidate.
Liz is an experienced public official who serves for the right reasons: She wants what is best for Westport and all its residents. She has served on the BoE for almost four years, most recently as vice chair where she consistently demonstrates collaborative work and rational decision making.
She currently is serving on the Long Lots School Building Committee, where she has been a level headed, rational voice for the Westport students and Westport overall.
She always does her homework and is not afraid to ask tough questions. Her BoE experience and knowledge is critically important to our Board of Finance since over 60 percent of the town budget is education spending. This deep understanding of the drivers of Westport’s education budget, coupled with her business background and her ability to respectfully work with others makes her an ideal candidate.
Liz grew up in Westport so her deep roots and relationships span many generations of Westporters — from the older population to the newer family with kids in the schools. She understands the balancing of priorities that is essential in our community.
She serves with knowledge, integrity and respect, all of which are essential in a candidate and public servant. Westporters, please join me in voting for Liz Heyer for Board of Finance on Nov. 7.
Selectwoman Andrea Moore
Westport

The same Liz Heyer who thinks the Community Gardens are a threat to the safety of Westport’s children?
This says it all: A sitting Selectwoman endorsing a candidate who is clearly an instrument of the Administration.
Heyer is an active participant in the disgraceful attempt to bury the community garden under a baseball field, enabled by the urgent need to fix a school.
That she is endorsed by the administration is part of the plan to delay Long Lots action until there is a new BOF and P&Z.
In that regard, vote for Dobin, Hammer, Perry and Hightower for BOF. I have no idea of their position on the garden, unlike the fifth candidate.
The same Liz Heyer who said the Garden/Preserves were a town jewel in a Building Committee meeting but voted to bulldoze them.
Andrea,
I agree 100% with your endorsement of Liz Heyer for the Board of Finance. Liz has worked tirelessly on the Board of Education to help keep the focus on our kids, and a balanced curriculum for all students. Liz will carry her budgeting experience from the BOE to our Board of Finance, focusing all 4 years on keeping our town finances sound.
Agree with Jimmy and Andrea here.
Liz is a strong asset for our town and has worked very hard on the BOE over the past few years in several key areas.
Liz and I strongly differ on our approach to the Community Gardens and the recent LLSBC recommendation. That is pretty clear to see. HOWEVER, my endorsement of Liz would not be tied to a single issue like that.
Liz has a lot to offer on the Board of Finance and I they would be very luck to have her.
