
Following is the obituary for MARGARET LABBANCE DeMACE, submitted for her family by the Harding Funeral Home.

Margaret Labbance DeMace, 91, of Westport, fondly known as Marge, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 15, 2024.
She was born Sept. 11, 1932, to Margaret Labbance in Fairfield. Due to the construction of I-95, she and her mother relocated to Westport, where she had the good fortune of meeting her neighbor who became the love of her life. She married Dominick “Babe” DeMace on Oct. 15, 1955.
She took pride in raising her three children and cherished her role as grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her winters in Florida and loved to reminisce about the mission trips she and her husband took with Assumption Parish.
A devout Catholic, she was an active member of the prayer network at the Assumption Church, where you could find her at Mass every Saturday evening. She instilled the importance of family through the dedication and unconditional love that she showed each day of her life.
She was predeceased by her husband Babe. She is survived by her children, David DeMace, Danielle Yingling and Dominick DeMace (Joanne); her grandchildren, Stephanie Fagan (Joseph), Christina Bierwirth, Natalie, Emily, Elisabeth and Eric DeMace; her three great-grandchildren, Connor and Devin Fagan and Andrew Bierwirth, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, at Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Road East. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Church of the Assumption on Thursday, March 21, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Norwalk. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorial contributions to Assumption Church in her name.
