HARTFORD–Recognized for her work to support environmental conservation statewide, the Connecticut League of Conservation Voters named State Senator Ceci Maher an Environmental Champion for the 2025 legislative session.

According to a press release, Sen. Maher received the recognition for her support of bills and new laws seeking to utilize clean energy resources, protect the state’s climate, and remove emissions from Connecticut’s air, among other efforts.
Environmental champions, the CTLCV said, were recognized for “leading the charge” on efforts to reduce emissions, protect natural resources and promote clean energy efforts.
“Connecticut’s clean air and waters and its beautiful forests, beaches and wildlife depend on our efforts to keep them clean,” said Sen. Maher. “We have a responsibility to do no harm and preserve our beautiful, important resources for generations to come, and I’m grateful to the CTLCV for its recognition and support.”
According to press aide Joe O’Leary, Maher voted for “Senate Bill 4, which supported energy affordability, access and accountability; bills regarding PURA oversight and leadership and clean energy use; bills supporting tire and battery recycling like HB5017 and HB5019; bills aiming to reduce food waste like HB6917; bills supporting land preservation (SB1522), adding invasive plants to the state’s list of plants to monitor (HB5013) and bills supporting transit-oriented community development (6831).”
In addition to recognizing Sen. Maher for her support of environmental policies, the CTLCV gave her an overall 84% for the 2025 legislative session, a solid B score.
