WESTPORT — Donations for end-of-school-year funds, organized by the town’s Department of Human Services, are sought to help income-eligible residents participate in summer programs, graduation ceremonies, proms and other celebrations.

The contributions to the department’s “Family-to-Family” programs directly benefit families experiencing financial insecurity, according to a DHS announcement.

“Ceremonies & Celebrations” provides gift cards to income-qualified families, with children in grades eight and 12, to help buy clothes for graduation and prom season, or to afford a meal for a special occasion.

The “Campership” program provides support for child care or activities that parents of some local children cannot afford this summer.

The programs provide “inclusion and stability by allowing Westport’s most vulnerable children to celebrate their academic achievements and enjoy a sense of community by attending events without the added financial pressure that many parents experience this time of year,” Elaine Daignault, the DHS director, said in the announcement.

Online donations to the funds can be made via “WeCare Westport” portal on the DHS website.

Checks can be mailed to: Westport Department of Human Services, 110 Myrtle Ave., Westport, CT 06880.
