WESTPORT — Distribution of COVID-19 at-home test kits to Westport residents will take place today — Monday, Jan. 3 — at the Greens Farms Railroad Station.
The distribution of the much-in-demand test kits will start at 3 p.m. today at parking lot #1 at the Greens Farms depot, 2 Post Office Lane, according to an emailed statement from First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker. The announcement was made shortly before 11:30 a.m. today.
Residents will be given two kits, and each kit contains two tests, which Tooker said were delivered to the town this morning.
The kits will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, and recipients will be expected to show proof of Westport residency.
Westport’s allocation of at-home tests has been reduced from the 3,420 allocation promised by the state last week, although Tooker did not specify the exact number.
The state’s initial deal collapsed abruptly last Thursday, and this new shipment is smaller than the 500,000 test kits that were scheduled to be distributed to cities and towns across the state.
“I am grateful for the dedication and professionalism displayed by our Emergency Management Team in preparing for and organizing this distribution procedure as quickly as possible after receipt of the shipment this morning,” Tooker said in announcing the test kit distribution later in the day.
