WESTPORT — Seven “Students of the Month” for January have been named at Staples High School.

They are: seniors Alexa Anastasi and Jacob Yarish, juniors Jackson Oliver and Mia Vindiola, sophomores Sofia Santamaria and Timothy Herold, and freshman Maxwell Manchester.

The Students of the Month program “recognizes students who help make Staples High School a welcoming place for their peers and teachers alike,” according to the announcement from the school.

The students are nominated by teachers on criteria such as those who “come to school regularly, are friendly to the staff and to fellow students, and make positive contributions in class as well as the Staples community.”
