WESTPORT — A Sept. 23 event will give adults interested in giving back to the community a chance to learn about dozens of local volunteer opportunities.

A volunteer fair, co-sponsored by the Westport Library, Town of Westport and League of Women Voters of Westport, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the library, 20 Jesup Road.

More than two dozen community, civic and nonprofit organizations are scheduled to have representatives on hand to provide information about their groups and answer questions from prospective adult volunteers.

“We hear all the time that people want to give back to the community, but they don’t always know where to start,” William Harmer, the library’s director, said in publicity for the event.

“This is the place. For four hours, we’ll have some of Westport’s most treasured local organizations and nonprofits in one space.”

An event for teens interested in volunteering for various community causes is planned from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the library.
