WESTPORT — Swimming at Westport’s town beaches — prohibited Tuesday because of water-quality concerns — is once again permitted Wednesday.

That comes just in time as temperatures are expected to hit the mid-90s Wednesday, with a heat index registering at 103 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

All of Westport’s municipal beaches were affected by the ban at the recommendation of the Aspetuck Health District as a precaution over possible contamination from runoff during Monday’s storms.
