WESTPORT — Autumn brings a chill in the air, but the atmosphere will be plenty hot Oct. 19 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 399.

The 2nd annual “Chili Cook-Off” fundraiser will be generating a lot of heat from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the VFW post, 465 Riverside Ave.

The event will feature a hot competition for Westport’s best chili recipe between teams representing Westport’s police, fire and EMS departments, as well as the VFW and American Legion.

Tickets cost $25. Funds raised will be used to purchase 500 flag holders for the graves of veterans buried in Assumption Cemetery.

In addition to a selection of chilis to sample, there also will be a raffle and prizes.
