WESTPORT — “Shorefest,” the waterfront celebration sponsored annually by the Friends of Sherwood Island State Park, is set for Sept. 8.
The fundraising event, featuring dinner, an auction and music, will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8., at the park’s main pavilion.
Shorefest tickets, which should be reserved by Sept. 5, can be purchased online by clicking here.
Dinner, catered by Westfair Fish & Chips, will include entrees of lobster, salmon or steak.
A silent auction will feature “unique items,” according to event organizers, including local restaurant dining, tours of Prospect Gardens and Aspetuck brew lab, and a fishing charter with Westport’s Capt. Blake Smith.

Proceeds from Shorefest will benefit a range of activities at the park, including:
- 140 feet of new dunes and 3,600 American Beach Grass plants.
- Invasive species eradication.
- Owl habitat restoration project.
- Fall and spring tree plantings.
- Nature center intern program.
- Speaker programs on animal and environmental topics.
Visit the Friends of Sherwood Island State Park website for more information about the group and its programs.
