WESTPORT — Back-to-school supplies are being collected over the next week by the Westport Domestic Violence Task Force for residents of two area Domestic Violence Crisis Center safe houses and community clients.
Supplies — collected through Tuesday, July 26 — can include items such as new backpacks, notebooks, new and unused lunch boxes, calculators and writing implements including pens, pencils, highlighters and crayons.
Donations can be dropped off anytime in the collection bin in the lobby of Police Department headquarters, 50 Jesup Road.
The Domestic Violence Crisis Center advocates for people experiencing abuse in personal relationships, according to a release from police Lieut. Jillian Cabana, the task force co-chairwoman.
The center offers a range of services and professional staff to help victims of domestic violence of any kind. The assistance is free and confidential, and is both multicultural and multilingual, Cabana said.
Anyone seeking help or information regarding a case of domestic violence can call the Domestic Violence Crisis Center’s 24-hour hotline at 1-888-774-2900, or check the DVCC website.
