“The Sandlot” and “Mamma Mia!” will be shown this week at the Remarkable Drive-In.

WESTPORT — “Hits” — on the baseball diamond and the pop music charts — is a shared theme of movies to be screened this week at the Remarkable Drive-In.

“The Sandlot” will be shown Monday and “Mamma Mia!” will be featured Wednesday.

Ticket proceeds benefit the Remarkable Theater’s goal of opening a nonprofit movie theater in downtown Westport that will employ people with disabilities.

The drive-in screen is located in the parking lot at 50 Imperial Ave.

“The Sandlot,” Monday Aug. 1: This coming-of-age comedy unfolds in 1960s California among a group of kids playing ball on a neighborhood lot — and learning a little about life in the process.

The 1993 film, rated PG, will be shown at 8 p.m., doors open at 7 o’clock.

“Mamma Mia!” Wednesday, Aug. 3: Pop music hits from the 1970s and ’80s by the Swedish super group, Abba, frame the action is this frothy 2008 musical romance.

The cast is led by Meryl Streep, Amanda Seyfried, Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper and Christine Baranski.

The film, rated PG-13, will be screened at 8:15 p.m., doors open at 7:15.
