The Remarkable Drive-In will screen, from left, “The Candidate,” “Beetlejuice” and “Slap Shot,” in the coming week.

WESTPORT — As the fall season winds down at the Remarkable Drive-In, a diverse trio of movies lights up the big screen in the coming week.

The film fare will include:

“The Candidate,” Tuesday, Oct. 25: A political newcomer free to speak his mind, regardless of the consequences — no, it’s not a fantasy — but a portrait of how American campaigns often start as one thing and end as another.

Robert Redford stars as the titular “candidate,” with a cast that includes Peter Boyle, Don Porter and Melvin Douglas.

The 1972 movie, rated PG, will be screened at 6 p.m., doors open at 5 o’clock.

“Beetlejuice,” Wednesday, Oct. 26: Haunting their old house is proving hard for a recently deceased couple, so they call on “bio-exorcist” Betelgeuse to help scare off other ghostly interlopers.

Michael Keaton is Betelgeuse (same pronunciation as the movie title) in a cast that includes Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder and Sylvia Sidney.

The 1988 comedy-horror film is rated PG. It will be shown at 6 p.m., doors open at 5 o’clock.

“Slap Shot,” Thursday, Oct. 27: Paul Newman, former longtime Westport resident, stars as the leader of a rag-tag hockey squad.

The 1977 comedy, postponed from an earlier date by inclement weather, is rated R. It will be screened at 6 p.m., doors open at 5 o’clock.

Tickets for any of the movies can be purchased at the Remarkable Theater’s website here.

Ticket proceeds benefit the Remarkable Theater’s goal of opening a nonprofit movie theater in downtown Westport that will employ people with disabilities.
