WESTPORT — Spring promises to be in full flower Saturday — regardless of the weather — as the Westport Garden Club’s annual plant sale blooms on Jesup Green.
The event, scheduled rain or shine, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13, on the green, 20 Jesup Road.
As the club marks its 99th anniversary, more than 1,000 perennial plants from members’ gardens will be on offer this year.
A section of the sale also will feature plants native to Connecticut, tomatoes, herbs and a collection of unique hydrangeas, according to a publicity release.
A selection of decorative container gardens and gifts for Mother’s Day also will be available.
Club members will be on hand to offer advice about plants, and each plant will have a tag with care information.
There will be nature-themed children’s activities staffed by Earthplace, and the Westport Book Shop will offer a variety of garden-related books.
Sales proceeds benefit the Westport Garden Club’s civic projects, including maintenance of local public gardens, educational programs and grants to environmental non-profit organizations among other projects.
