
SOUTHPORT — An upcoming lecture at the Pequot Library will explore how artists shaped perceptions of the American Revolution and the ideals of the newly formed United States government.
Art historian Christine Hauck will deliver a presentation entitled “The Artists of the American Revolution” at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23rd. The event is free, and registration is required.
Hauck will discuss notable artists who recorded images of the Founding Fathers, battles, and important moments during the war and the development of the Constitution. The lecture will cover artists including Gilbert Stuart, Charles Willson Peale, John Singleton Copley, John Trumbull, and Benjamin West.
The event is part of the programming the Pequot Library is offering as an affiliate of the America 250 | Connecticut Commission, which is commemorating the semiquincentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
