WESTPORT — Wakeman Town Fram heralded the holidays Friday with a tree lighting and community gathering.

Despite gloomy weather, the evening was brightened by the farm’s annual tree-lighting ceremony led by First Selectwoman Jennifer Tooker and Bill Constantino, a Wakeman family relative. The radiant display was arranged by Irv Daskim from AAA Tree Service.

Warmed by a roaring fire, the crowd was entertained with holiday tunes performed by several groups of musicians from local schools and also enjoyed free cookies, treats and hot chocolate from The Porch and Sweet P Bakery.

The Habitat for Humanity chapter at Staples High School also sold baked goods to raise money to help build a house in Bridgeport.

Donations were collected for the annual toy drive organized by Al’s Angels.

Sponsor for the holiday gathering was Freudigman & Billings, according to Wakeman Town Farm officials.

The town’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, in front of Town Hall, is set for 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4.
