WESTPORT–Residents are invited to show their patriotic spirit by festooning their homes with displays in red, white and blue.

In the Westport Patriotic Home Décor Contest, presented by the Town of Westport and Westport250, is intended as a community-wide celebration of America’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
“Residents are encouraged to decorate their homes with red, white and blue displays that celebrate the spirit of America, Westport’s history, and the community pride that makes our town special,” an announcement from the town says.
Decorations may include flags, bunting, lights, flowers, window displays, lawn décor or any other creative expression of patriotic pride.
The contest is open to all Westport residents. Participants are encouraged to have their displays completed in advance of the Independence Day holiday.
Winners will be announced on July 8 during Westport’s “Sharing the Spirit of America: A Reading of the Declaration of Independence” event at the Westport Library. The event will bring the community together for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the birth of America.
The Grand Prize winner of the home decorating contest will receive a complimentary parking pass for the 2027 Westport Police Athletic League Fireworks on July 2, 2027, including a reserved VIP parking space for the event.
“The Patriotic Home Décor Contest is a fun and meaningful way for residents to take part in Westport’s America 250 celebration,” said First Selectman Kevin Christie. “We hope families, neighborhoods, and community members will join together in celebrating our shared history and the spirit of the occasion.”
