Deer takes Christmas Eve jaunt through frosty Compo waters

WESTPORT — A deer was spotted taking a dip Tuesday in wintry waves off Compo Beach.

Perhaps it was a respite before taking on the Christmas Eve chore of hauling an overweight passenger, attired entirely in red and packing a sack stuffed with packages, around the globe.

Or maybe it just got the wrong date for the New Year’s Day “Polar Bear Plunge” at the beach.

In any case, the moment was a Christmastime reminder of Mother Nature’s unexpected gifts every day.
