WESTPORT — Judging a book by its cover will be pretty easy from Friday through Monday at the Westport Library, because there will be thousands available to pass judgment on at the annual “Fall Book Sale.”
The sale, featuring a diverse collection of “gently used” books encompassing more than 50 literary categories, will take place at the library, 20 Jesup Road, according to the following schedule:
Friday, Nov. 1: noon-6 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 2: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 3: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. — Most offerings available at half-price.
Monday, Nov. 4: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. — Shoppers can fill a library logo bag for $10 per bag; their own equivalent-sized bag for $8, or buy individual books at half-price.
Admission to the sale is free, with the exception of “early-access” entry from 8:45 a.m. to noon Friday. Tickets, granting shoppers an advance look at the sale inventory, can be reserved by clicking here.
In addition to the wide range of fiction and nonfiction books, the sale also offers vintage vinyl records, CDs and DVDs, framed artwork and puzzles.
Among the event’s special features are:
- A selection of signed novels and poetry from the personal library of the late Sybil Steinberg, the Westporter known her “Sybil’s List” of recommended reading and former editor of Publishers Weekly.
- A room filled with hardcover fiction, mystery, science fiction and fantasy books, and young adult fiction, plus paperback novels, all offered at $1 each. These include new copies of best-selling Westport author Jane Green’s novels, in hard cover and paperback.
- An “extensive” collection of history books, particularly military history, with many rare titles.
- Fiction, nonfiction and collectible books in more than a dozen languages.
