WESTPORT — Get in the spirit of Halloween early this year at an Oct. 5 event featuring pumpkin painting and more seasonal treats on Jesup Green.

The Westport Book Shop, joined by Earthplace and the town’s Tree Board, is organizing the gathering from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 5, on the green, across from the book store at 23 Jesup Road. (In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled to 12:30-2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, on the green.)

In addition to pumpkin painting, the event will include seasonal crafts, animal visitors, “Monster Mash” and give-aways by the Tree Board. Those planning to attend are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes by event organizers.
