WESTPORT — Getting a spirited start to the season, the Westport Book Shop plans to pump up some fun with a “Halloween Pumpkin Painting Project” on Oct. 7.

With the promise of “no tricks, just treats,” the event will take place from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 7, on Jesup Green. (Rain date is 10:30 a.m.-noon Oct. 8.) To RSVP or for more information, call the Westport Book Shop at 203-349-5141.

Attendees are invited to dress in costume, but organizers said it’s not required.

With partners Earthplace and the town’s Tree Board, the book shop event will feature pumpkin decorating, as well as seasonal crafts, animals from the Earthplace menagerie and giveaways by the tree board. Writer Michael Zenetti also will read from his book, “The Sloth and His Friends.”
