WESTPORT — Riko’s Pizza, purveyors of hot-oil, thin-crust, “tavern-style” pies, plans to host a “community festival” this Saturday before it starts hosting customers at its new Westport restaurant in Saugatuck later this month.

The free event, set from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, will take place in Luciano Park, at Charles and Franklin streets, across from the new Riko’s at 60 Charles St.

In addition to free cheese pizza, the event will feature a bouncy house, face painting, temporary tattoos, balloon twisting, a photo booth and more, according to Riko’s announcement.

The new pizzeria, once the site of the Arrow restaurant and Mystic Market, is slated to open Tuesday, Nov. 19. Riko’s also has nearby restaurants in Norwalk, Fairfield, Darien and Stamford, as well as others in New York, Massachusetts and Florida.

Salad and pizzas topped with salad are also on the Riko’s menu. Pictured is the anti-pasto variety.

When the Westport Riko’s officially opens, its menu will showcase a wide selection of pizzas, including what is called its “classic” plain cheese pie, as well as margherita, meat lovers, Hawaiian, Nashville hot chicken, clam and veggie varieties, among others.

There also will be a “build-your-own” feature, with a range of toppings to customize a pie with various cheese, meat and vegetable options.

Also available will be salads, pizzas topped with salad, several varieties of oven-baked wings and desserts that include New York-style cheesecake and Reese’s peanut butter pie.

Beverages will include specialty cocktails.
