WESTPORT — A downtown retail landmark has been reborn.

Local to Market has opened at the site of the much-loved and long-lost Remarkable Book Shop at 177 Main St.

The market, painted a soothing gray instead of the iconic pink facade of the book store, is a place where brands from across the state can “bring their products to market and provide consumers direct access to locally grown, produced and manufactured products here in Connecticut,” according to the store website.

The business, owned by Westport residents Chris and Rita Marcocci, kicked off with a farm stand Saturday and more expansive offerings are planned over the coming weeks.

The motto of Local to Market is “Eat Well. Live Well. Do Well,” a reference to the store’s plan “to create a community of consumers and producers all giving back to Connecticut charities to support those in need.”
